James Cropper to Show "Dark Side"

British papermaker James Cropper is set to "go back to black" for Luxe Pack Monaco, as it prepares to showcase its extensive range of black papers – a color that in the world of packaging brings sophistication, class, and a timeless appeal, the company notes.

Attendees at the event, which takes place 2 and 4 Oct. 2 – 4, 2017 at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, will also get the chance to experience the company’s Tailor Made service, which allows brands to develop unique, custom-made paper solutions for brand presentation and packaging.

James Cropper works closely with clients to develop bespoke black shades, and prides itself on color quality and consistency. Its in-house color lab also holds recipes for more than 50 shades of black, with four ready-to-order FSC®-certified blacks available from stock.

Susan Wilson, group packaging director at James Cropper, said that "we want brands to realize the creative potential of black – it’s dark and challenging, but can often be the most powerful of colors. Harnessing technology, science, and skill during the past 170 years, we’ve built up unique capabilities and have developed a portfolio of black papers with tactile appeal, as well as a service that can create bespoke papers that truly define a brand.

"Creating an individual experience for brands’ is crucial—so, as well as color, our service encompasses texture, technical performance, and environmental values. This, combined with our rich papermaking know-how and superior craftsmanship, means that the creative possibilities are endless," Wilson noted.

Liquorice and Black Lentil from the Dolcelicious range of luxurious food contact-approved papers are among those on show at the event. Also on display will be Black Bowston, a soft black made from 100% reworked fiber, and the Red-Hued Black from Vanguard, James Cropper’s leading color range, which has a smooth finish ideal for promotional print.

The company also will showcase examples of packaging projects, which include the collection of gift and presentation packaging for luxury online handbag retailer Zesh, made from a dark chocolate black developed for the papermaker’s award-winning Cocoa range.

Wilson added that "we’re looking forward to introducing attendees to our bespoke service. At James Cropper, we appreciate the importance of standing out from the crowd and know that Tailor Made will be well received in Monaco."

James Cropper will also be presenting ColourformTM moulded fiber packaging, from the company’s 3D Products division (JC3DP), at the Monaco event. With a growing demand for brands to create packaging that is easy to recycle, Colourform rises to this challenge, offering new creative and technical potential in structural packaging made from natural, renewable fibers that are easily recyclable with household paper.
