Europac Develops Box-Ice Bucket Made of Corrugated Board

The Europac Group (Papeles y Cartones de Europa S.A.), Spain, has developed a new packaging solution for drinks manufacturers—a box-ice bucket for bottles of wine and cava, designed by the Group’s Packaging Division, which cools drinks and maintains the appropriate temperature for consumption. You only need to empty a bag of ice inside and wait for 30 min.. So what is the advantage over a traditional ice bucket?

Basically, this is ready-to-use packaging that acts as a sales tool for the wine and cava industry. The box-ice bucket is packaging with high quality printing to be placed on shelves at points of sale, where it becomes a medium for communication and a marketing tool to attract the attention of consumers and to strengthen sales. In addition, the wine or cava and the ice bucket are sold together in this packaging format and transported as one single product.

Carlos Larriba, director of Europac’s Packaging Division said that "these developments demonstrate Europac's commitment to acting as a strategic partner that brings value both to its customers and to its customers’ customers through innovative packaging solutions."

The box-ice bucket is a solid structure, which allows the bottle to be safely carried by a handle. Another noteworthy feature of the product—an internal development by Europac—is the absence of joints, which prevents the water from the melted ice penetrating the box’s structure. Once used, it becomes recoverable waste that is recycled and converted into raw material for manufacturing paper.
