Lollicup USA Achieves SFI Certifications for Karat Paper Hot Cups

Lollicup USA, Chino, Calif., USA, has made another effort to provide its customers with products from responsibly sourced forests by successfully achieving certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) 2015-2019 Chain-of-Custody Standard. This comes at a time in which the company is taking steps to expand its efforts to promote sustainability through its Karat® products, its Karat Earth environmental product line, and other operational efforts at its Chino headquarters.

After months of organizing and planning, and after an intense audit, Karat generic white paper hot cups in 12 oz., 16 oz., and 24 oz. sizes achieved SFI Chain-of-Custody (CoC) certification. The SFI 2015-2019 Chain-of-Custody Standard is an accounting system that tracks forest fiber content (certified forest content, certified sourcing, and recycled content) through production and manufacturing to the end product.

More consumers want assurance that their buying decisions represent a sound environmental choice. A SFI Chain-of-Custody certification delivers a reliable and credible mechanism to make statements about consumer products, allowing businesses to provide this assurance to customers.

Lollicup USA hopes to certify more of its products in the future to push its efforts further.

Lollicup USA manufactures and distributes Karat paper and plastic disposable foodservice packaging products and Tea Zone® beverage ingredients for thousands of retail business accounts, including several Fortune 500 restaurant franchises.
