Domtar’s Mark DeAndrea to Keynote at IBBC

Industry leaders such as Domtar recognize the key role biomaterials can play in the future of the wood-fiber industry.  As a renewable, sustainable, and carbon-neutral resource, wood fiber is experiencing a transformation as innovators identify new opportunities for biomaterials. Recognizing the future potential of biomaterials, Domtar has created a BioMaterials Business Unit led by Mark DeAndrea, VP and business unit leader, with a focus on advanced fibers, extractives, lignin, biofuels, and wood-based cellulose derivatives. DeAndrea will be the keynote speaker at IBBC 2017 and will share his insights into the growing bioeconomy and Domtar’s role in biomaterials innovation for the future.

TAPPI’s 2017 International Bioproducts & Bioenergy Conference (IBBC) will be held on Nov. 7-9, 2017, in Norfolk, Va., USA. DeAndrea will deliver his keynote presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 1:30 p.m.

DeAndrea joined Domtar in January 2016 and is a member of the Pulp and Paper Leadership Team. He has management oversight and responsibility for Domtar’s newly created bioMaterials business unit, which includes five platforms: lignin, extractives, cellulosic sugars, advanced fibers, and thermochemical fuels. DeAndrea is also a board member for Celluforce, the world leader in the commercial production of Cellulose NanoCrystals (CNC). Celluforce is a joint venture between Schlumberger, Fibria, FPInnovations, and Domtar.

DeAndrea  has more than 25 years of international management experience. His background includes strategy, finance, strategic capital, commercialization, mergers and acquisitions, and operations for a variety of companies and industries including industrial bio-refining, biomaterials, and technology.
