TAPPI Career Center: Paper Fiber Development Scientist/Engineer Wanted
The Paper Fiber Development Scientist/ Engineer serves as a technical lead, and the primary resource responsible for providing expertise needed to operate the mill at maximum efficiency, and ensuring that raw material usage is yielding product meeting quality standards. This position also provides technical expertise regarding product development, and serves as a resource for the Sales organization.
Employee:
- Provides insight into process improvements to improve quality and control cost
- Monitors chemical usage, product performance, and makes adjustments as necessary
- Provides technical insight with daily mill operations regarding product quality, water treatment, material consumption, and problem solving
- Maintains required trade certifications
- Provides data and coordinates audits with above agencies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Product development
- Quality assurance
- Raw material evaluation
- Chemical inventory control
- Works with Environmental Engineering for routine reporting
- Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition
- Performs other duties as directed.
