Total kraft paper shipments by U.S. producers in August 2016 were 151,500 short tons, 6.6% higher than in August 2015, according to the AF&PA (Washington, D.C., USA) August 2016 Kraft Paper Report released this past week. Bleached kraft paper shipments increased from 6,700 short tons in July 2016 to 9.5 short tons in August, while unbleached kraft paper shipments increased from 126,300 short tons to 142,100 short tons. 

Overall, year-to-date shipments in 2016 were 2.4% lower compared with the same period in 2015. Total month-end inventories decreased from 80,200 to 74,7oo short tons.
