Grupo Gondi to Construct New Packaging Converting Plant in Mexico


Grupo Gondi, Mexico, will build a new converting plant in Hunucma, Yucatan. The new plant will supply current and future needs of clients that manufacture in the Yucatan region, including Cerveceria Yucateca, as well as the needs of markets in southeast Mexico and Central America.

With this investment, Grupo Gondi is supporting its commitment to its long-term supply agreement with ABI. To bring this investment to fruition, Grupo Gondi has acquired a 50,000 sq. meter piece of property located 6 km from ABI’s new brewery.

Grupo Gondi has 62 years of experience in the Mexican paper and packaging market. Currently, the company employs more than 6,800 people, and is made up of 13 companies, with 6 recycled paper mills, 9 box manufacturing plants (with a total of 13 corrugators) and 4 modern high graphics facilities. Grupo Gondi specializes in the production of recycled paper for packaging, coated carrierboard (Gondikote®), corrugated boxes, solid fiber boxes, folding carton boxes, micro-corrugated preprinted boxes, and laminated preprinted boxes (Gondifilm®).
