Vortec Enclosure Coolers Keep Sensitive Electronics Cool as Summer Temps Climb

Increased temperatures that signal the start of spring are welcomed by workers—but can wreak havoc with sensitive electronics. As ambient temperatures rise, so does the temperature inside of electrical enclosures, causing problems for sensitive components like sensors, solenoids, relays, PLC’s, and more.

Vortec (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) enclosure coolers keep electrical and electronic enclosures cool, clean, and dry, and are a low-cost alternative to expensive high-maintenance air conditioners. A small mounting footprint allows use in confined spaces, and require 1/10th the space of comparable air conditioner units. Various easy-to-install models are available from 400 to 5,000 BTU with air consumption from 8 SCFM to 70 SCFM. NEMA 12, NEMA 4, NEMA 4X, Zone 2 & 22, and Class I, II, III, Div. 2 ratings are available.

Vortex Tubes convert compressed air to a low-pressure cold air source to keep electronic enclosures and panel components protected so they can operate precisely. A compressed air stream enters the vortex tube where it spins rapidly, splitting into hot and cold air streams. Most Vortec Enclosure Cooler models are thermostatically controlled to regulate cabinet temperatures within a specified range.

With low initial cost and lower maintenance costs compared with air conditioners, fans, or thermoelectric coolers, Vortex technology is an essential part of many of the hottest and dirtiest industries, including refineries and petrochemical facilities. With trouble-free operation in ambient temperatures up to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C), Vortex coolers prevent costly shutdowns and massive production losses.
