TAPPI Journal Announces Three New Editorial Board Members

 
TAPPI Journal this week announced three new editorial board members. Randy Branston with BASF is a coating specialist, and Marc Foulger of GL&V and Gerald J.F. Ring of the University of Wisconsin are experts in the papermaking area. The three new members will be profiled in an upcoming issue of TJ.
 
 

Branston (pictured above) is a technical specialist in paper and paperboard coating and printing applications at BASF, with more than 26 years in the paper industry. He previously worked as a product manager for paper dyes and whiteners for Ciba Specialty Chemicals and started his career at the Xerox Research Center of Canada, where he was a research chemist. Randy co-authored the best paper at the 1993 TAPPI Coating Conference and more recently was awarded the TAPPI Coating and Graphic Arts Division Technical Award in 2014. He is an author of numerous publications and patents ranging in fields as diverse as organic chemistry, photoreceptor materials, and new toner technology, as well as novel paper coating co-binders to name a few.

Foulger (pictured right) is global business manager, headboxes, at GL&V in paper machine operations and has 40 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry. He previously served as director of research for both GL&V and Black Clawson in the U.S. Before joining Black Clawson, he worked for Simons Consulting and  Kimberly-Clark in Canada, and Reed International in the U,K. Foulgeris a TAPPI Fellow, and has published more than 40 technical papers. 
 
Ring (pictured below), professor emeritus of paper science and engineering, University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, and technical consultant to Wisconsin Institute of Sustainable Technology. Ring recently retired after almost 30 years as a professor at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Previously, he also was a research scientist with Kimberly-Clark Corp. Ring is a TAPPI Fellow and has written numerous papers, including one that garnered the TJ 2011 Best Research Paper Award. His expertise encompasses formation, paper physics, pressing, drying, stock preparation, wood chemistry, and chemical pulping and bleaching.
