MediaLiner Provides High Performance at all Levels

Produced at its Uetersen mill near Hamburg, Germany, for corrugated packaging and laminates, Stora Enso reports that the company’s new MediaLiner has gained, "within a short period of time, a high level of product awareness, not only within the corrugated board and laminating industries, but also especially among brand owners and packaging designers." Converters and brand owners choose MediaLiner for its high whiteness and supreme printability, Stora Enso notes, adding that MediaLiner offers even more.

Due to its Cobb value and its special reverse side characteristics, which have been adjusted for laminating purposes, the material delivers excellent performance in corrugated board production, Stora Enso points out. The use of MediaLiner reduces warping and curling tendencies of corrugated board, which, in turn, has a significant impact on the speed of converting lines.

Duropack Kalsdorf GmbH has been successfully using MediaLiner for some time. "We chose MediaLiner for the highest quality print motifs, requiring accurate reproduction of details," said Edmund Steinwender, director of sales and marketing for the company. "Our overall process has also shown that the internal reject rate could be significantly reduced.

"Based on its excellent strength properties, the material also allows the use of lower grammagescompared with coated white top kraftliners," Steinwender continues. "Combined with its printingand processing efficiency, MediaLiner is, in many cases, also economically the right choice."

According to Hans-Jörg Richter, product Innovation manager at Stora Enso’s Uetersen mill, "MediaLiner performs well in flexographic and offset printing processes. And the same goes for pre- and postprint," he says, describing the flexibility advantage that the material offers producers of branded goods and packaging. "This enables packaging designers, brand owners, and converters to showcase their creativity. MediaLiner is the ‘One Stop Shop’ for creativity and efficiency."

MediaLiner is available in basis weights of 120, 135, 160, and 190 gsm. With its bright white silk surface, it provides a highly pleasant touch and feel, the company notes. MediaLiner is also suitable for spot and effect varnishing to attract even more attention at the POS.
