German Papierfabrik Palm Restarts Containerboard Machine

Papierfabrik Palm, Aalen, Germany, has now restarted its 650,000 metric tpy recycled containerboard machine at its mill in Wörth, Germany. The machine, which had been out of production since August 26 following an electrical failure at the site, was brought back online by the end of September.

After the equipment failure, the group said it expected paper production at the Wörth mill to resume on September 22. The approximately four-week downtime has led to a loss of around 47,000 metric tons of paper, according to estimates by RISI. The disruptions at Wörth have tightened recycled containerboard supply in Western Europe in September, including encouraging several paper producers in that region to announce a new round of price hikes for October.
