2014 OpEx Keys on Reliable Production, Predictive Analytics, Training, Asset Management

The 2014 OpEx Reliability Workshop at PaperCon is set for April 29 in Nashville, Tenn., USA. This year’s workshop focuses on the pulp and paper industry’s continuing progress toward reliable production, implementing predictive analytics, reliability training and management, and optimizing asset management.

The 2014 OpEx keynote address will be delivered by paper industry maintenance and reliability Icon Christer Idhammar of IDCON (photo), whose presentation is titled "Reliable Production a Cornerstone in Operational Excellence." Complementing Idhammar’s opening address in OpEx Session 1, Larry Schindler of Wausau Towel and Tissue explores "The Journey to Continuously Improved Reliability and Lower Costs."

In the Applying Predictive Analytics Session 2, Mario Montag of Predikto looks at "How to Get Started with Predictive Analytics." Montag’s presentation is followed with an exploration of "How Analytics of Big Data Improves Reliability" by Dragan Trivanovic of the Zellstoff Celgar market pulp mill. Rounding out this session, Bill Wick of American Industrial Metrology discusses the latest approaches to more production and uptime through good paper machine alignment, starting at the wet end and press.

OpEx Session 3 in the afternoon is focused on Reliability Training and Management. During this session, Jim Davis of Performance Consulting Associates (PCA) examines how to get operations more involved in asset reliability management, followed by Robert Matthews’ (Royal Purple) analysis of "Getting the Most Back from Your Reliability Training." Completing Session 3, Bobby Allen of Allied Reliability Group presents "Managing a Preventive Maintenance Program in the Most Effective and Efficient Manner Possible."

The final Session 4 on "Optimizing Asset Management" is handled by three additional training experts from Allied Reliability Group. The first presentation by David Neikirk covers how to manage backlogs with practical, proven techniques. Neikirk is followed by Lance Bisinger who explores "Optimizing an Asset Health Management Program with Simple Techniques." Completing Session 4, and the final presentation of OpEx 2014, Kate Kerrigan discusses "Turning KPIs and Metrics into a Reliability Dashboard."
