In the Spotlight: Brian Brogdon - First Paper Published Becomes First Career Step

While a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Brian Brogdon, Ph.D., had the opportunity to perform pulping research work with several notable academics.

He credits having joined TAPPI as an undergrad at Georgia Tech for providing him with the types of networking opportunities and extensive library of technical knowledge that led to his first peer-reviewed published work. However, prior to his paper’s publication in TAPPI Journal, Dr. Brogdon was also encouraged by these mentors to present his work at the Southeastern TAPPI Local Section, and later at the TAPPI Pulping Conference. This first step began his nearly 25 years of active membership, including serving on TAPPI Journal’s editorial board, and as an officer on several divisions, committees, and local sections. In 2014, he will serve as the technical program co-chair for the 2014 PEERS Conference.
