Nippon Paper Increases Price of Woodfree Colored Paper

Nippon Paper Industries, Japan, has announced a price hike for woodfree colored paper in the domestic market to all of its agencies. The increase, the exact amount which was not specified, will be effective with all orders shipped on or after August 21.

While the business environment of woodfree colored paper has been worsened by the prolonged downturn in domestic demand and its market price has been falling, there has been an upward trend in the price of raw materials and fuels, and rapid depreciation of Japanese yen, the company notes. Nippon adds that although the company has struggled to reduce costs, the negative impact from these environmental changes cannot be absorbed only by its own efforts. For these reasons, the company decided to raise the price to a sustainable level.
