Recovered Fiber Consumption in U.S. Remains Flat

Total U.S. industry consumption of recovered paper in December 2012 was 2.38 million tons, less than 1% higher than in November, according to the AF&PA (Washington, D.C., USA) December 2012 U.S. Recovered Fiber Monthly Report. Receipts decreased for most grades and, coupled with the flat consumption, caused across-the-board decreases in inventories. Total consumption in 2012 was 3% lower than in 2011.

U.S. exports of recovered paper in November dropped off 4% from the strong October figures, though they were still 4% higher than November 2011. Total exports of recovered paper in 2012 were 5% lower than in 2011.
