Myllykoski to Invest in More Energy-efficient Technology

Myllykoski, Finland, reports that it will invest in more energy-efficient mechanical pulping technology to decrease energy consumption in the virgin fiber grinding process at its mills, which is a major energy consumer in the production of paper. By the end of this year, one-fourth of the company's pressure groundwood capacity will be using the new technology. The company plans to have the new technology installed in all of its pressurized groundwood mills by 2011 or 2012.

As part of its efficiency and sustainability programs, Myllykoski says it continues to do research in the field of mechanical pulping to find advanced solutions for producing paper.
