Free TAPPI Webinar: Learn COVID-19 Coronavirus Personnel Protection Using Textile Substrates

Among the many challenges in the current battle against the unprecedented COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic is the availability of preventive textile substrates and general information on products such as face masks and sanitary wipes.

TAPPI’s Nonwovens, Engineers, and Technologists (NET) Division is holding a free webinar on April 28th at 1:00 p.m. EST called Personnel Protection Using Textile Substrates. Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, a full professor at Texas Tech University, will cover basic information of textile substrates and their functional applications in this webinar. Information of different textile substrates such as nonwovens, that are at the frontlines of defense, will be highlighted.

This timely webinar will discuss basic information of textile substrates and their functional applications. Information of different textile substrates such as nonwovens, that are at the frontlines of defense, will be highlighted.

Dr. Ramkumar earned his PhD at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. For over 20 years, he has held expertise in the field of nonwovens, particularly in advanced materials and the functional finishing of fibrous materials. He has two commercially acclaimed inventions: FiberTect, a toxic chemical decontamination wipe, and the Towelie wipe, an oil absorbent. A member of SDC, AATCC, TAPPI's Nonwovens Division and life member of India's Textile Association, Dr. Ramkumar has been recognized by the highest awards in the field. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Textile Association (India) and has earned the Mark Hollingsworth Prize for nonwoven research by TAPPI-USA. Dr. Ramkumar also created Texas Tech University’s column "TexSnips", where he discusses global current events in textile research and development field. TexSnips articles have been published by other media outlets such as Commodity Online, WTiN, and Cotton24/7.com.
