In Memoriam: TAPPI PIMA Member Francis P. Gabbianelli

We honor Francis "Frank" Gabbianelli and send our sympathy and condolences to his family, colleagues and friends. Frank passed away unexpectedly March 28, 2020 at the age of 68.

A respected Vietnam War veteran, Frank graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1969 and promptly enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Stationed in Illinois and eventually sent to Vietnam, Frank Gabbianelli served three tours of combat duty. Upon return in the United States in 1974, he enrolled at the University of Maine and earned a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1978.

He started his career in the paper industry at St. Regis Paper Mill in Bucksport. Frank’s success in the paper making industry led him to manage several paper mills, both in Maine and Connecticut. Gabbianelli was also an active member in TAPPI PIMA (Paper Industry Management Association) and was honored with the prestigious Couch Pit award.

Once retired, Frank decided to fulfill another passion as part of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department.

Francis "Frank" Gabbianelli was known to be extremely generous, and kindhearted with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by his industry, family and friends.
