Euwid reports that Messe Düsseldorf is postponing the international trade fairs Interpack and Drupa amid the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) spread. Interpack packaging fair was meant to start on 7 May in the capital of North Rhine-Westphallia, the state with most COVID-19 cases in Germany.

According to Messe Düsseldorf, the processing and packaging trade fair Interpack will now take place from 25 February to 3 March 2021. The printing and paper industry event Drupa is postponed to 20 to 30 April 2021.

The event management announced it was following the recommendation of the crisis management team of the German Federal Government and the Robert Koch Institute. Based on this recommendation and the recent significant increase in COVID-19 infections, Messe Düsseldorf reassessed the situation and decided to postpone the events.

"In addition, there was the general ruling issued by the city of Düsseldorf on 11 March 2020, in which major events with more than 1,000 participants present at the same time are generally prohibited," Messe Düsseldorf explained.

North Rhine-Westphalia is the state with the biggest population among the 16 German states, and it counts the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Germany, so far.
