Kaplamin Ambalaj, a Çukurova Paper and Packaging Group company providing packaging solutions to some of the biggest businesses and brands in Turkey, has added a second Onset X platform at its Prigo Digital Solution Center, which opened in December 2017.

Founded in 1976, Kaplamin Ambalaj was acquired by Çukurova Holding in 1984. In 2017, needing a digital printing solution for corrugated board in order to meet customer demand for shorter runs and faster turnarounds, the company invested in an Inca Digital Onset X1 LT platform from Fujifilm. As customer demand for short run work has continued to accelerate since that investment, Kaplamin Ambalaj needed to expand its digital capacity still further, and in late 2019 the company opted to invest in a second platform from Fujifilm and Inca Digital’s Onset X series.

The new machine, an Onset X1 model, has now been installed alongside the first, at Kaplamin Ambalaj’s Prigo Digital Solution Center, near Izmir in western Turkey. Digital corrugated board production, which stood at 40,000m2 per month has quickly doubled, and the company’s factory manager, Osman Bozcaarmutlu anticipates that running the two Onset platforms together, they will soon be producing 100,000m2 of printed corrugated board per month.

“Our digital printing business, which we started two years ago, has been very successful, said Bozcaarmutlu. “We entered this sector in partnership with Fujifilm and we continue to work and grow with them. The Onset can print to a wide range of substrates and we’ve found it to be ideally suited to printing to corrugated board. Fujifilm was therefore the obvious choice when we came to invest in a second machine.”

“The Onset is a very operator-friendly printing platform, engineered for hassle-free, smooth operation,” Bozcaarmutlu added. “And this, combined with Fujifilm’s excellent service and support, both online and onsite, means that machine downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. The fact that everything works so smoothly gives us the confidence to keep investing in the same technology and brand.”

“With the creation of its Prigo brand, Kaplamin Ambalaj has brought a breath of fresh air to the corrugated printing sector,” said Cengiz Metin, General Manager of Fujifilm Turkey. “They add tremendous value with their high-quality short run and customized print, as well as other display and POS materials. They are an innovative company, committed to sustainable production, and we look forward to continuing to work with and support them.”
