As consumers become increasingly concerned about the environment, their demand for products that leave a low environmental footprint has also increased. Sustainability has become a critical issue for industries throughout the world including the paper and packaging industry. This new focus has also stimulated innovation as companies and academics strive to develop new technologies and processes to meet demand. PaperCon 2019 attendees will have the opportunity to witness many of these advancements on May 5-8, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN.

As the world’s largest technical conference for the paper and packaging industry, PaperCon draws over 2,000 mill, paper and packaging professionals from around the world eager to learn new strategies, technologies and processes as well as to network and discuss issues with their peers. Featured Track: Coating & Graphic Arts

PaperCon’s Coating & Graphic Arts track addresses key challenges currently facing the industry. Its sessions take a close look at sustainability with multiple presentations highlighting new applications, technologies and products. Attendees can participate in a sustainability panel discussion with panelists from Michelman, Foodservice Packaging Institute, Biodegradable Products Institute, and Domtar. The track also includes sessions on diverse films and coatings, UV and digital ink innovations, advanced coating operations, and other advanced coating topics. Coating 101 Short Course

"Pigmented Coatings for Paper and Paperboard"

May 4th from 8:00am – 6:00pm and May 5th from 8:30am – 3:30pm

Coating and other professionals also have unique opportunity to attend a course on coating fundamentals prior to the start of PaperCon. This course will address topics critical to the understanding of coating including an overview of coated paper and paperboard grades; properties of coating base stock and paperboard being coated; coating application technologies and machinery; testing of coated and printed paper; and much more.
