In appreciation of the 58th anniversary of National Forest Products Week, recognized in a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump on October 19, TAPPI is joining forest product manufacturers and organizations throughout the value chain to celebrate National Forest Products Week.

"Members of TAPPI conduct valuable research, provide quality education, and produce superior products that people rely upon across the country and around the world," said TAPPI President and CEO, Larry Montague.  "We celebrate forest products every day and are proud to take part in recognizing the value of our industry during National Forest Products Week."

As an ANSI-Certified Standards development organization, TAPPI’s peer-reviewed Standards ensure that products meet industry recognized best practices. These Standards not only demonstrate how to maximize performance, they also provide new ideas and operational methods to improve production. TAPPI members and volunteers drive the development of the Standards and TIPs that are used around the world.

"In rural and urban communities across 45 states, our companies provide family-wage jobs to nearly 950,000 men and women. Paper and wood products manufacturers rank among the top ten employers and utilize renewable, recyclable materials in innovative and highly-efficient processes to make products Americans rely on today and will need tomorrow," said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman. "National Forest Products Week offers a welcome opportunity to underscore the value of our industry and its products to the nation’s economy and our everyday life."

On Sept. 13, 1960, Congress designated the third week in October as National Forest Products Week, requesting the president issue a proclamation each year calling on Americans to observe the value of forest products. Industry employees in Washington, D.C. and around the country celebrate the week with events and advocacy campaigns to mark the occasion.
