U.S Packaging Paper Shipments Rise

Total U.S. packaging paper shipments in September 2018 were up 5.7% compared with September 2017 and up 2.6% year-to-date, according to the AF&PA (Washington, D.C., USA) September 2018 U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly Report released this past week.

Bag & Sack shipments were up 4.9% year-to-date. Multiwall shipments were flat. Converting shipments were up 1%, and food wrapping shipments were up 2.8%. The operating rate for September 2018 eased back from 99.1% in August to 95.9% in September. Inventories dropped 1.1%  since August.
