U.S. Containerboard Output Up in September

U.S. containerboard production in September 2018 was up 4.9% compared with September 2017 and up 2.0% year-to-date, as reported this past week by the AF&PA (Washington, D.C., USA) in its September 2018 Containerboard Monthly Report issued this past week.

The month-over-month average daily production compared with August 2018 was 1.3% lower. The containerboard operating rate was 98.8%, 3.4 percentage points higher than the same month last year. 

Production for export increased for the third straight month, reaching its highest level for 2018 so far. It was 19.8% higher than September 2017, and for the first time this year, it was up year-to-date, by 1.3%.
