This past month (July, 2018) Greaseproof Printing Co. (Glamorgan, U.K.) launched a new type of paper as a product line primarily to be used to wrap hot and cold snacks as well as be put in pizza boxes as a liner.

The new line, Au Natural, is free of traditional chemical coatings and treatments. Greaseproof Printing uses the pulping stage in a specially formulated process that can make the fibers become so tight that any sort of space between them is eliminated to such a fine degree that greases are not able to pass through on a molecular level.

Additionally, it uses special eco-friendly ink that is free of synthetic chemicals and instead derived from natural ingredients such as soy, sugars, dextrin, and wood resin.

Au Naturel grease-proof paper also has superior thermal properties and is much more resistant to being torn.
