Drewsen Paper (Lachendorf, Germany) is set to modernize the press section on its PM 5 with the installation of a shoe press that will represent a significant investment currently being described as "multi-million" Euros. The objective is to streamline the press and improve the production of Drewsen’s special papers in low base weights.

Final costs and completion dates have not yet been determined but the company this week began announcement of the project when it reported that it has reached an agreement that installation will be completed by PMT SRL in a low-impact, two-stage process. Installation of the new shoe press represents a multi-million Euro investment.

Drewsen reported the investment will allow the company to be able to expand its market position for thermal base papers, thin printing / label papers, and barrier papers for food packaging.
