Catalyst Finally Relents Defiance After Third Week Curtailment at Powell River Mill

On Tuesday (May 8) Catalyst Paper (Vancouver, Canada) announced that Paper machine 11 at Catalyst Paper Corporation’s Powell River mill went into start-up mode successfully on May 7 after a three-week production curtailment of uncoated groundwood paper.

The curtailment started on April 16 in response to a shortage of fiber and United States Department of Commerce tariffs on uncoated groundwood paper. There were no layoffs as a result of the curtailment
