TAPPI Industry Career Center: Anilox Roll Cleaning Systems, Inc. Seeks Field Service Technician

We are seeking a hard worker with a positive attitude for executing roll cleaning contracts at client sites 50% of the time.  Position requires overnight travel throughout designated region using company provided vehicle and equipment.  Balance of time will be spent maintaining company equipment and fulfilling other warehouse duties.

The technician will clean client ink and coating cylinders found on large printing presses using an automated process that uses non-hazardous baking soda (NO chemicals used) to perform cleaning operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide cylinder cleaning services at client sites.
  • Perform demonstrations of equipment upon request.
  • Perform repair and maintenance on client-owned roll cleaning systems.
  • Overnight Travel 50% of the time.
  • Work with office for scheduling and assignments.
  • Interact with site personnel at all levels, from Plant Manager to Press Operator.
  • Always follow all safety and work procedures at all times, especially when at client sites.
  • Utilize a computer, microscope, and other technology as needed to document and track work completed.
  • Maintain company equipment and company vehicle in excellent working order.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested by supervisor.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years industrial work experience
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Printing industry or familiarity with operation of large printing presses a plus
  • Clean, valid driver’s license required
  • Drug testing required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to receive and execute written or oral instructions
  • Must be able to speak with clients on a regular basis and be fluent in English.  Ability to also speak Spanish a plus.
  • Safety conscious, including familiarity with LOTO procedures, PPE, working in mfg. environments
  • Mechanical aptitude and learning competency for training on how equipment works
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in all situations
  • Proficient with email, tablets, smart phones, GPS technology.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequently requires the ability to lift, move, perform extended standing, walk, and operate equipment. Will require the ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. Travel portion of job involves long drives and extended trips which can last up to a week at a time.
