China BSK and BHK Pulp Imports Rise

China’s BSK (bleached softwood kraft) pulp imports were up 7.1% y/y through January-February 2018, with imports from Chile down 15.4%., according to data from the China Customs Bureau. China’s February 2018 BHK (bleached hardwood kraft) pulp imports at 1.014 million metric tons was the second highest monthly level ever.

The table below lists China’s BSK and BHK pulp imports for February 2018 and for the first two months of 2018 from key world areas. The following graph charts China’s monthly imports of paper grade pulp (BSK and BHK as well as dissolving pulp) from 2008 through February 2018.
