World-20 Pulp Shipments Unchanged in January

January 2018 World-20 pulp shipments were unchanged y/y, according to data maintained by the Pulp and Paper Products Council (PPPC), Montreal, Que., Canada. A low shipping rate (81% of capacity) reflects logistical problems and not lack of demand. Pulp stocks at the end of January were up 1 day to a total of 35 days.
 
The PPPC table below shows WorldČ-20 market pulp trade statistics in January 2018 versus January 2017 and December 2017. The following graph tracks market pulp days of supply form 2008 through January 2018 for BSK (bleached softwood kraft) and BHK (bleached hardwood kraft) pulps.
