Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Tetra Pak, Switzerland, this week was named to the CDP Supplier Climate A list for the second time, as well as announced as a CDP Forests A list in December 2017, also for the second time. Tetra Pak has been reporting to the CDP Supplier Climate program since 2009 and to the Forests program since it was first established in 2015. Reporting to CDP highlights Tetra Pak’s commitment to transparency and measurement of its sustainability positioning.

In the Supplier Climate program, Tetra Pak has been recognized for implementing a range of actions to mitigate climate change by receiving an A score. Only 2% of companies participating to the program achieved an A score.

The factors that enabled Tetra Pak to achieve this are:
  • Transparency and quality of disclosure
  • Emissions inventory validated by a third party
  • Approved Science Based Targets
  • Use of internal price for carbon
  • Highest responsibility for climate change lies with the Tetra Pak board.
Mario Abreu (photo), VP, Environment Tetra Pak, added that "sustainability is an integral part of the business decisions we make and the actions we take. That’s why we’re proud that Tetra Pak was one of only six companies to make the CDP Forests A-list, for the second year in a row, and now also the Supplier Climate A-list. Across the company, we understand the tangible business benefits of disclosing our activities to our customers and third parties. Among other things, it helps us measure and improve on our performance across the whole value chain."
