TAPPI Industry Career Center: City of Largo seeks Program Engineer

The City of Largo seeks a licensed, experienced Professional Engineer (PE) with supervisory experience to provide best practice design, project management, and team leadership for City transportation, stormwater, and sanitary sewer utility projects. This position will have a strong emphasis on construction management.
 
We seek an experienced Senior Engineer to manage projects that impact the City's asset portfolio in all assigned areas. Must have the ability to multi task and oversee high profile construction projects through completion while managing the budget and schedule for multiple projects simultaneously.
 
The successful candidate will have current State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License, bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least four years directly related engineering experience in a project management capacity with a minimum of one year of supervisory or project team leader experience.
 
Training and Experience:
  • Current State of Florida Professional Engineer license or current Professional Engineer license from another State that can transfer within six (6) months of hire.
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
  • At least four (4) years directly related engineering experience and project management capacity
  • A minimum one year in a supervisory, team leader or project team lead capacity
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License or a valid driver's license in another state allowing transfer within 30 days from date of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Training and knowledge of supervisory and leadership best management practices including coaching, counseling, hiring, selection, managing performance, addressing performance improvement issues as needed and performing related administrative work
  • Advanced knowledge of municipal engineering practices and procedures including surveying, construction, infrastructure design, and drafting techniques.
Ability to:
  • Apply engineering knowledge to specific technical and infrastructure problems and to develop working contract plans and specifications
  • Work as effective project manager and team leader; communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing 
  • Coordinate engineering projects and work programs.
