Crown Van Gelder, the Netherlands, this week announced its latest investment is a soft calender for its Paper Machine No. 1, which is part of an investment program totaling EUR 20 million in the past two years. The soft calender is supplied by Andritz Küsters GmbH, Germany, and is being installed this month (January 2018).

The new soft calender provides improved smoothness of the paper surface and enables Crown Van Gelder to further strengthen its market position in high speed inkjet, label, and packaging papers. It also makes the company more flexible in the production cycles on PM 1 and PM 2 for the mill’s product portfolio.

The investment emphasizes the full support of o Crown Van Gelder’s customer oriented niche strategy by its 100% shareholder, Andlinger & Company (as of April 2015).
