The Recycling Partnership, Falls Church, Va., USA, a national nonprofit that applies corporate funding to improve recycling efforts in communities across the country, is pleased to announce that Berry Global Inc., Evansville, Ind., a global provider of innovative protection and packaging solutions, has joined on as its newest funding partner.

"Our mission of Always Advancing to Protect What's Important is in direct alignment with the efforts pursued by The Recycling Partnership," said Tom Salmon, CEO of Berry. "By collaborating with The Recycling Partnership, we will be assisting in their efforts to further expand access to recycling in cities and towns across the U.S."

Since 2015, The Recycling Partnership has assisted more than 500 communities in improving their recycling efforts, reaching more than 26 million households, and has invested more than $27 million of corporate funding in recycling infrastructure.

Recycling is a core component of Berry's commitment to sustainability. In addition to encouraging consumer recycling, the company of 23,000 employees is also working to decrease landfill waste in its own operations. In addition, Berry is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions' intensity and to prioritizing the EPA framework of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

"Recycling in the U.S. is far from perfect," noted Keefe Harrison, CEO of The Recycling Partnership. "Working closely with industry leaders such as Berry allows us to expand access to recycling in communities across the nation, unlocking the environmental and economic benefits of strong recycling systems. Through these partnerships, we are empowering companies to create a circular economy, while building stronger communities and a cleaner, greener future."

The Recycling Partnership is a national nonprofit organization that applies corporate partner funding to improve the recycling system in cities and towns across the nation, thus increasing supplies of clean materials for manufacturing. The Recycling Partnership is the only organization in the country that engages the full recycling supply chain: from the corporations that manufacture products and packaging, to local government charged with recycling, to industry end markets, haulers, material recovery facilities, and converters, positively effecting recycling at every step in the process and transforming recycling in towns all across America.

Between 2015 and today, The Recycling Partnership has assisted more than 500 communities with tools, resources, and technical support. It has provided 400,000 recycling carts, reached 26 million households, and helped companies invest more than $27 million in recycling infrastructure. In doing so, it has achieved results in the form of: 382 million gal. of water saved, 164,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas avoidance, reductions in targeted contamination rates, and an energy savings of 2.0 trillion BTU / year.

Berry’s products include engineered materials, nonwoven specialty materials, and consumer packaging. It has revenues of $7.1 billion in fiscal 2017.
