TAPPI Industry Career Center: Kadant Solutions Seeks Service Technician

Kadant Solutions Division is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our sales organization as a field service technician. Kadant Solutions sells and services equipment into the pulp and paper industry. 
 
The field service technician is responsible for providing technical support to facilitate the installation and servicing of Kadant Solutions products. Typical activities include troubleshooting assistance, equipment inspections on machine shutdowns, report writing, and sales support. The key skills for this position are the ability to understand mechanical drawings, instruct a crew on maintenance and installation activities, communicate findings, and summarize in a report.
 
A four-year technical degree is preferred in addition to five to ten years of relevant work experience. Experience in paper machine applications a plus. Must possess strong critical thinking skills as well as have the ability to apply consistent logic to diverse situations. Strong technical aptitude coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is essential to the success of this position. This position will entail 30%-70% travel, depending on the function and workload with an average of three overnights per week. Preferred residence in the greater Portland, Ore., area.
