Canada’s NBSK Pulp Exports Fall 8% to a 32-Month Low in October

Canada’s October 2017 NBSK (northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp exports were down 8% y/y to a 32-month low, with 15.3% y/y drop to China. The following Statistics Canada table, shows Canada’s NBSK exports to key areas of the world for October 2017 and the first 10 months of the year, as well as for NBHK (northern bleached hardwood kraft) pulp.

The first graph below shows Canada’s total NBSK pulp exports from 2008 through October 2017, as well as exports to China during the same period. The second graph below shows the volumes and value of Canada’s NBSK exports from 2008 through October 2017.
