Caraustar Continues Price Increases on Uncoated/Coated Recycled Paperboard

Caraustar Industries Inc., Atlanta, Ga., USA, this week announced the continuation of the previously announced price increases on all of its uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) and coated recycled paperboard (CRB) grades.

"The announced price increases of our URB and CRB grades in March were in response to the increases in fiber costs that Caraustar had been absorbing," stated Mark Butryn, VP of sales for the Caraustar Mill Group.

Implementation resulted in low realization due to a temporary drop in recycled fiber costs. However, after a brief decline, the costs of recycled fiber rebounded and are forecasted to continue to increase in the upcoming months.

Butryn reiterated that "Caraustar cannot continue to absorb the increases in recycled fiber and other raw materials costs. We must complete implementation of the previously announced price increases on our URB and CRB grades to recover those costs."

Caraustar Industries is one of North America's largest integrated manufacturers of 100% recycled paperboard and converted paperboard products. The company serves the four principal recycled boxboard product end-use markets: tubes and cores; folding cartons; gypsum facing paper; and specialty paperboard products.
