TAPPI Industry Career Center: GL&V Seeks Development Manager

There is an exciting career opportunity within GL&V for a full-time Development Engineer in our Nashua, N.H. location. This position will report directly to the VP of Innovation.

The Development Engineer plays a vital role within the organization to keep Innovation projects moving forward. They lead the development efforts for defined products and technologies within the company and act as the design leader on all active projects.  Additionally, they have the responsibility of creating development plans to execute new product designs based on defined concepts established by the Business Units.

 Core Duties include:
  • Manage internal and external efforts to complete development projects through First Commercial Demonstration Unit (FCDU) evaluation.
  • Perform investigative analysis of designs for improved performance, appearances, engineering concept and manufacturability for upgrades or new machines.
  • Lead/ facilitate group discussions on inventive thinking process and decision making processes.
  • Travel to vendors, customers, alliance partners, and other GL&V locations and take necessary actions to execute development projects.
  • Works together with the business unit to participate in sales, project execution, and field start up and optimization activities for newly developed upgrades or new machines.
  • Act as the Development Ambassador in assigned technical centers to stimulate and promote a culture of Innovation within GL&V.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering and/or related degree; and more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, Inventor, 3D modeling & FEA.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills desired.  Conversant in English required.  Conversant in French and/or Swedish is a benefit.
  • Capability to handle multiple and changing priorities.

  • Proven Leadership Skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Knowledge of fabrication/machining strongly preferred.
