China’s Q1 2017 Pulp Imports Soar

China’s Q1 2017 pulp imports soared y/y.  Bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp imports were up 39% over the first quarter of 2016, according to data from the China Customs Bureau. Q1 2017 BSK (bleached softwood kraft) pulp imports were up 13% over the first quarter of 2016.

The following table shows China pulp imports from key parts of the world for March and Q1 of 2017 versus 2016. The graph shows China’s monthly imports of paper grade pulps and dissolving pulp from 2007 through Q1 2017.
