Nippon Tokai Industrial Paper Supply Raising Liner, Medium Prices

Nippon Tokai Industrial Paper Supply Co., Japan, this week announced price revisions for its containerboard products. Products subject to price revisions are all linerboard and corrugated medium, with a minimum markup of 20%, effective with shipments beginning May 21, 2017.
The linerboard and corrugated medium business of NTI, Nippon Paper Industries Co., and Shin Tokai Paper Co., have been facing a difficult earnings condition because of rising prices of a number of raw materials and fuels, including wastepaper, since the second half of last year, the company noted.
"These three companies have been promoting thorough cost reductions, but the current price level is lower than the revenue level where reproducible profit can be secured through our independent efforts alone. Therefore, the company decided the revision of the product prices," NTI, explained in a release.
