KaiCell’s (Finland) bioproducts mill project in Paltamo will complete a full feasibility study by the summer of 2017, and has taken steps to formalize its management structure.

Jukka Kantola, M.Sc., eMBA, has been appointed CEO. He has held a number of management and leadership positions in international forest industry companies as well as being a strong influencer of new solutions within the bioeconomy since 2012.

Martin Doktar, M.Sc., becomes director of strategy, with special emphasis on investor relations. He brings an exceptionally wide international experience from sales and marketing, as well as major forest industry acquisitions and corporate restructuring.

In a statement, KaiCell Chairman Eero Suutari confirmed his support. "The venture has continued to meet expectations, and it reflects well on Kainuu that we have attracted this experienced management team to take the project forward with dedicated professionalism. I am delighted that we now have our key operatives in place."

Kantola said that "the game is getting serious now and we have to adapt accordingly. The project has been under development since 2015, and we are now reaching the stage where decisive steps are taken to ensure that the mill becomes a reality. I am happy to say that we have up to now been able to fully adhere to our internal timetable, and there is every reason to believe that we can follow through in the same manner."
