This week TD Bank, Cherry Hill, N.J., USA, and the Arbor Day Foundation, Lincoln, Neb., announced the 2017 recipients of TD Green Streets, a grant program entering its fifth year of supporting innovation in urban forestry within the designated Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA® communities. Each grant of up to $20,000 will fund urban greening projects in underserved communities, including tree planting, maintenance costs, and educational activities.

TD Green Streets is a component of TD Forests, a North American initiative aimed at growing urban forests, protecting critical forest habitats, and encouraging responsible use of forest products. TD Green Streets represents a direct investment in the health of our urban tree canopy.

"TD Bank shares the Arbor Day Foundation's commitment to making the communities where we live, work and play greener places," said Joe Doolan, head of U.S. Environmental Affairs, TD Bank. "By partnering with and giving to local organizations and communities, we strive to make a lasting impact and hope to inspire a positive change in our neighborhoods."

"We're excited to join TD Bank in supporting 10 communities committed to effective tree care for the benefit of all residents," said Matt Harris, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "TD Green Streets will help these worthy Tree City USA participants to remain on the cutting-edge of urban forestry."

To be eligible for a TD Green Streets grant, qualified municipalities must be current Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA-designated communities within TD Bank's U.S. footprint, with the submitted project occurring in a low- to-moderate income area of the local community. Tree City USA is the nation's premier urban and community forestry program, providing a foundation for effective, well-organized community tree care.
