TAPPI and the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology (WIST) are working in partnership to bring you a series of training courses for papermakers.
 
May 4-5, 2017 – University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

Well known instructor, Dr. Gerry Ring, professor emeritus and former chair of the UW-Stevens Point Paper Science & Engineering Department, has prepared an in-depth focus on the optimization of sheet structure for this two-day course.  You'll have the opportunity to run the fourdrinier pilot paper machine, as well as learn these concepts and more:
  • Why papermaking fibers floc
  • Manufacturing techniques that minimize fiber floccing
  • The relationship between paper properties and formation
  • Visual and instrumental measurement of formation
  • The difficulties associated with the correlation of visual formation assessment and the instrument measurement.
