Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Effective April 1, 2017, Södra, Sweden, is raising the price of its NBSK (northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp in Europe to $860 per metric ton. The announcement is a response to a tight global market, t7he company noted.

"The volume of pulp on the market is the main driver behind price movements and even small changes in pulp supply can affect the market," said Magnus Björkman, VP marketing and sales at Södra Cell. "At the moment, we are seeing a tight supply situation with planned maintenance shutdowns compounded by unplanned shutdowns at several mills, for a variety of reasons. We have not seen this level of tightening in the market for many years."
