The Timken Co., North Canton, Ohio, USA, a global manufacturer of bearings and mechanical power transmission products, this week announced its Drives® chain facility has completed the ISO recertification audit and also achieved American Petroleum Institute (API) Q1 recertification.

The Drives facility, located in Fulton, Ill., successfully completed the certification audit to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems Standard, ensuring that all of the Drives’ chain processes and practices meet the exacting standards of these two governing organizations.

This month, the API also recertified that the quality management system of the Timken Drives facility was in conformance with API Specification Q1 for design and manufacture of chains and auger products.

"At Drives, quality has always been a cornerstone of our values and a strong part of our brand promise to our customers," said Tom Young, director of the Drives business at Timken.

Drives has been certified to ISO 9001 since 1996 and also registered to API Q1 and licensed to use the API monogram since 2002.

"To meet the API quality system requirements and verifications and use the API monogram label, we must endure API product testing and meet or exceed product performance requirements for the critical applications in the oil and gas industry," said Scott Meurs, senior quality engineer for Drives chain business at Timken. "We apply these same thorough verifications and testing to all of our roller chains in to make sure that we achieve industry expectations."

"The longevity of Drives quality chain manufacturing combined with the history of Timken quality and brand reputation continues to set us apart," added Young.
