Canada’s NBSK Pulp Exports Slide 1% in 2016

Canada’s 2016 NBSK (northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp exports were down 1% y/y in 2016. The average value/ton of pulp was down for three straight months through December 2016.
 
The following table based on data by Statistics Canada, shows Canada’s NBSK and NBHK (northern bleached hardwood kraft) pulp exports for December 2016 and for the full year of 2016 versus 2015 to key countries and the world as a whole.    

The graph below, based on data maintained by Statistics Canada, Brian McClay and Associates, and PIG (Pulp Info Global), shows Canada’s NBSK pulp exports in average value per metric ton to the U.S., China, and all markets from 2008 through 2016.
