AF&PA Elects New Chair, Announces Officers at Winter Board Meeting

The AF&PA, Washington, D.C., USA, has elected Clearwater Paper Corp. President and CEO Linda Massman as its new board chair, AF&PA also released the 2017 slate of AF&PA Board officers. Top industry leaders participated in the association’s Winter Board of Directors Meeting in Washington on Jan. 26, 2017.
 
"The American Forest & Paper Association Board represents preeminent industry talent and vision, and I am honored to lead our members in accomplishing our key advocacy priorities for the coming year," said Massman. "Our agenda targets regulatory reform, comprehensive tax reform, transportation efficiency measures, and trade policy. On all, we will provide ideas for forward-thinking policy improvements that allow our businesses to compete at home and around the globe."  
 
A distinguished industry leader, Massman was elected Clearwater Paper's CEO in 2013, after serving as the company’s president and COO since 2011 and CFO from 2008 to 2011. Before joining Clearwater Paper, Massman served as group VP of finance and corporate planning for SUPERVALU Inc. and as a business strategy consultant for Accenture. Prior to being elected chair of the AF&PA Board, Massman served as vice chair and as AF&PA PAC co-chair.

AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman said that "under Massman’s leadership, we are ensuring that policymakers in Washington, D.C., and state capitals across the country understand the needs of our industry. Also elected as officers are Evergreen Packaging Inc. President and CEO John Rooney (first vice chair) and Greif Inc. President and CEO Peter Watson (second vice chair). Packaging Corp. of America Chair and CEO Mark Kowlzan will serve as immediate past chair.
 
Beginning new terms as AF&PA Board members in 2017 are: Michael Doss, Graphic Packaging International Inc.; Peter Watson, Grief Inc.; James Morgan, Interstate Resources; Matthew Kaplan, KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp.; Richard McLeod, Procter & Gamble Co.; Philip Rundle, Rolland Enterprises Inc.; Colin Moseley, Simpson Lumber Co.; Christopher DiSantis, Verso Corp.; and Steven Voorhees, WestRock Co.

The AF&PA Board of Directors currently consists of 21 top industry leaders who represent a broad spectrum of companies in the paper and wood products manufacturing sector.
