Mercer International, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, has raised the price for its northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp to $820/metric ton in Europe, effective Jan.1, 2017.

According to a RISI, Brussels, Belgium, report, the company made the decision after a careful review of market conditions, notably what it described as generally stable demand and well-balanced global pulp inventories as well as demand-driven pricing developments in North America and Asia.

Sweden’s Södra and Finland’s Metsӓ Fibre have also announced plans to lift their prices for NBSK to $820/metric ton in Europe, for January deliveries, according to RISI.
