Thanks to the results achieved and for having been able to jointly meet the expectations of growth, sustainability, innovation, and inclusion, the Lucart spa Fiberpack® (Italy) project has  won the special award "Best in Class" as part of the 14th edition of the "Sodalitas Social Award." The award ceremony was held in the presence of numerous authorities at "Palazzo Mezzanotte " in Milan, Italy, this past week, and Lucart's Sales and Marketing Manager Guido Pasquini accepted the award.

Almost 2 billion retrieved beverage cartons, approximately 900,000 trees saved, which would have been necessary for the production of the equivalent amount of virgin fiber paper, and more than 52,000* tons of CO2 avoided, thanks to the would be landfill waste of beverage cartons—these are the environmental benefits achieved in three years from 2013-2015 with the Lucart Group's Fiberpack project.

This award is further confirmation of the commitment of the Group, which adopts development models that respect human rights, the regenerative capacity of the Earth, and community well-being. With the Fiberpack project, Lucart has succeeded in transforming the disposal of containers for beverages such as Tetra Pak® into a true circular business model, reusing all of the components and avoiding the dispersion of landfill from the containers, with significant social and environmental benefits.

Lucart's innovative process, which is unique in Italy, was inaugurated in 2011 in collaboration with Tetra Pak and required an investment of approximately EUR 10 million. The Fiberpack project aims to produce paper and other objects without cutting down any trees, alternatively through the recycling of used Tetra Pak beverage containers composed of cellulose fibers, aluminum, and polyethylene. Lucart produces tissue paper products for hygienic use with the former, while with the latter, parts of aluminum and polyethylene (plastic materials) are used by third parties to produce other objects, such as pallets, other products for the building industry, and mooring poles used in the Venetian lagoon. The paper products are distributed both in the professional sector with EcoNatural Lucart Professional lines, Velo Natural, Tenderly Professional Natural, Fato Natural, both in the Household sector with the brand Grazie Natural.

The SODALITAS SOCIAL AWARD 2016 recognizes the commitment of those enterprises, institutions, and organizations which adopt a recognizable leadership and are oriented towards "changing the paradigm to achieve a sustainable future," which is the theme of this edition.

Evaluation of the capacity of innovation and impact, based on the criteria of the EFQM Model for Excellence (European Foundation for Quality Management), was conducted by Franco Anelli, who is a multi-stakeholder of the Jury chaired by the Dean of the Catholic University of Milan.

The SODALITAS SOCIAL AWARD, established in 2003 to reward the best practices of Corporate Sustainability, is recognized as one of the initiatives in recent years that has contributed greatly to the culture of corporate sustainability and its integration into business strategies.

Lucart Group is a European leader in the production of light-weight MG paper for flexible packaging and is a partner of the main European industries for the supply of tissue and airlaid jumbo reels.
