The pulp, paper, and paperboard segment has been the dominant segment of the paper manufacturing market in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past five years. Products manufactured in this segment include uncoated and unbleached kraft liners, sack kraft paper, felt paper, grey paperboards, and fluting.

"Since 2014, the pulp, paper, and paperboard segment, has also witnessed the introduction of new product categories, such as paper for newsprint; paper and paperboards for photo-sensitive, heat sensitive, and electro-sensitive applications; and cellulose wadding for household and sanitary products. The production of graphic papers picked up post 2014, after a brief hiatus of two years," said Chandrakumar Badala Jaganathan, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on textile, fiber, and composites.

Between 2010 and 2015, in terms of revenue, the pulp, paper, and paperboard segment recorded a growth of more than 17%, despite fluctuations in the production of key product categories such as kraft papers and felt paper. The revenue generated by the grey paperboard segment grew by more than 100% during the same period.

Paper-based household and sanitary goods and toiletries

Despite being the second largest segment in the paper manufacturing market in the country in terms of revenue, sales in this segment dropped by approximately 6% between 2010 and 2015. Key products in this segment include toilet paper, hand tissues, facial tissues, sanitary towels, and tampons. Despite the overall decline, revenues generated through the sales of sanitary napkins and tampons grew nearly 4% year-over-year between 2010 and 2015. Revenues from hand tissues and facial tissues also grew by more than 2% individually, year-over-year, during this period.

Corrugated paper and paperboard, and paper and paperboard containers

This segment has recorded a 14.5% growth since 2010. The main products in this segment include corrugated paper and paperboard; paper and paperboard sacks and bags, cartons, and boxes; and letter trays, storage boxes, and similar articles. Currently, the corrugated paper and paperboard, and carton and boxes (non-folding type) segments are the leading product segments in terms of revenue. However, between 2010 and 2015, while the latter grew at a CAGR of 13%, the former grew at less than 1%.

Paper stationery

Since 2010, this segment has been declining progressively at a rate of nearly 5% year-over-year because of increased demand for imported products. Key products in this segment include carbon paper, self-copy paper, notebooks, address books, and business papers.

Other paper and paperboard products

This segment has witnessed a decline of nearly 5% year-over-year since 2010. The primary products in this segment are printed labels and self-adhesive printed labels. Despite the progressive decline, revenues from the sales of printed labels have shown signs of growth since 2014, jumping by nearly 40% compared with 2013.
